The Buffalo News has been a ground floor supporter of Re-Tree WNY since our founding in November, 2006. Publisher Stanford Lipsey and his wife Judith kicked-off the Buffalo News Green Leaf program which raised $350,00 in summer, 2007, and renewed the campaign in 2009 which raised another $180,000. The latest is Green Goal, January 5-February 26, 2012. The News is collaborating with the Buffalo Sabres and Entercom Radio to promote contributions to buy trees in 2012 to be planted by Re-Tree volunteers. For those who donate $40, they will be matched with the Sabres Foundation's $40, and get their name, or a loved one's name, printed in a full-page future issue of The Buffalo News. We are very grateful for their generous support also of space, printing and other assistance as needed.
The Buffalo Sabres Foundation, The Buffalo News, and Entercom Radio have announced their commitment to support Re-Tree WNY's new fundraiser launched January 15, 2012, called "Green Goal". Rich Jureller, spokesperson for the Buffalo Sabres Foundation, said “We are especially excited about helping Re-Tree WNY this year so they can reach their goal of reforesting our area, devastated by the October, 2006 surprise snowstorm. In fact, we are matching each $40 donated with $40 from our foundation so that trees can be bought this year to be planted by their volunteers.” Sabres forward Mike Weber and defenseman Nathan Gerbe are lending their support as spokesmen for the campaign, asking their fans to donate to have trees planted in 2012.
Entercom Buffalo, LLC is donating air time on its Sabres flagship station, WGR SportsRadio 550, and the five other radio stations it owns to highlight the “Green Goal” project. “Re-Tree WNY fits in perfectly with our major Entercom corporate initiative, called ‘1 Thing’, which targets environmental causes that deserve support,” said Larry Robb, Vice President/General Manager of the Entercom radio stations. “We hope that our collaboration on this campaign will generate funding for their planting efforts in 2012”.

Buffalo Convention & Visitors Bureau Green & Mean It program partners with Re-Tree WNY by encouraging visitors coming to WNY to "go green". They have introduced an effort to plant trees to neutralize the carbon footprint of conventioneers' travel and conference space usage. The first such program was successfully carried out with the Solar Energy convention in summer, 2009. Re-Tree and the CVB planted trees along Delaware Avenue near the meeting and hotel sites to neutralize what was spent in carbon during the convention.
